About-Mathstime

Parents will be supported in pointing their children in the right direction and use the mathematical methods which are used in schools today, as the methods used are so different from when parents used to be at school. Mathstime is regularly active in the school environment, so is aware of any changes in the education system, regarding Maths.

We will work at the level the child is at in school and work towards moving the child forward. Homework will be given after each session which will be linked to the lesson given. Each lesson will be planned according to individual needs.

Mathstime uses a variety of resources to support children’s learning as well as knowledge and expertise from experience. Test-based questions will be provided where necessary and past test papers given. Learning objectives for each session will be explained to ensure the child is aware of what he/she is expected to achieve by the end of the session. Also, questions (from the child) are encouraged throughout sessions and stamps are used as rewards and for encouragement. Once the child has achieved 10 stamps then he/she is given a prize as a reward and encouragement to earn stamps throughout the session.

It is important that parents are involved in their child’s learning and Mathstime is keen to work with parents/carers to move the chid forward. Parents, teachers and children can work as an effective team. This can be shown in the children’s results.
